export-json ignores --design_variant: four exports of a two-variant Cadence design (no variant, A, B, and a nonexistent variant name) all exit 0 and are byte-for-byte identical, and the file records no variant, so nobody downstream can tell which build it is. The query tools on the same design refuse to run without a valid variant.
