Duro PLM alternative: the orchestration layer above Duro

And Duro’s independence has ended: Duro Labs is now part of Altium (duroplm.com now redirects to durolabs.co). Its PLM is now positioned inside the Altium ecosystem.

What Duro gets right — and the gap it leaves

A better PLM is still a PLM — even one backed by Altium. The failure mode it can’t fix is structural: the change order lives in Duro, while the evidence needed to approve it lives everywhere else — the schematic revision in the ECAD tool, the firmware validated against a different board spin, the assembly drawing the CM quoted from not matching the BOM. Duro records the change; it doesn’t assemble the case for approving it across disciplines.

Waiting for PLM to grow into orchestration won’t close this gap either: Duro’s AI works inward on PLM data — validations, impact analysis, sourcing — while the cross-system facts (was this firmware validated against this board spin? do the CM’s Gerbers match the BOM the ECO just released?) are the orchestration layer’s job.

One thing the Altium move does change is the map: for teams already in the Altium ecosystem, ProductFlo’s Altium Designer plugin — in development — is the natural bridge. It is not shipping yet; the orchestration layer above Duro today connects through shipping integrations and ProductFlo’s API/SDK/MCP connector, like any other tool.
