Connection note
Pipeline output is a .kicad_pcb board file; the repo description also claims Altium Designer and Eagle CAD integration, but the README pipeline describes KiCad output only, so Altium and Eagle are not listed as verified software.

What it does and how it connects

PCB Designer AI Agent is a universal AI hardware agent built in Python that generates schematics and PCB layouts from natural language. It supports Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI as well as local models through Ollama and LM Studio, and runs as a standalone JSON-RPC service that takes a prompt and outputs generated BOM, netlist, and board files.

The pipeline parses requirements with an LLM, maps keywords to real physical components for BOM generation, synthesizes a schematic netlist, generates standard IPC footprint geometries (SOIC, LQFP, SOT-223, USB-C, and others), and renders a complete routing-ready .kicad_pcb board file. A Reef evaluation harness is included to test how well models extract footprint parameters from PDF datasheets.

The agent is also ported as a browser-based hardware design environment for Anna OS, with a local UI and a fallback to Anna OS quota or tokens when no API keys are provided.

Alternatives

circuitron
Uses an OpenAI Agents pipeline with SKiDL code generation plus Supabase and Neo4j, rather than a standalone JSON-RPC service for any LLM provider.
