AgentCommercialECADVerification

CopperPilot

Hosted electronics design agent with an open-source terminal CLI that reviews boards and edits KiCad schematics and PCBs through chat or MCP.

Facts

Connects to
KiCad, Altium
Connection note
Site states native KiCad and Altium integration on the Individual plan; the CLI README requires KiCad 10 on PATH only for its ESP32 example, and the site also shows LTspice, PSpice, Vivado, and Icarus Verilog under simulation and physics areas, which are not counted as core design software here.

Repository stats

Stats describe the open-source terminal CLI client only; the hosted agent is commercial.

What it does and how it connects

CopperPilot is a bolt-on AI agent for the EDA tools already in use: press Ctrl+K inside the design tool to ask questions about a design, drop symbols, route traces, or run firmware loops where the design already lives. The homepage pitches it for KiCad and Altium projects and says the agent can read, edit, and verify a design alongside the engineer, with no migration to a new platform.

One shortcut covers the full hardware loop on the site: BOM and sourcing from requirements, datasheets, and distributor databases; schematic generation from natural language; placement and routing under design constraints, signal integrity, and layout rules; design review against manufacturer errata and design rules; firmware register configs, init sequences, and driver scaffolding from the schematic; and SPICE simulation with netlist generation and read-back.

The open-source terminal client, copper-pilot-cli, is a thin client for the hosted CopperPilot agent: it requires a CopperPilot account login, exposes MCP, and ships review and agent skills. The hosted agent itself is commercial, while the CLI client is MIT licensed, so repo stats here describe the CLI client only, not the hosted product.

Pricing

Individual starts at $0.00/month; Teams starts at $150/month; Enterprise on request. The site also says self-serve for individual engineers today, with a founder-led enterprise tier for teams needing procurement, security review, and onboarding support.

Not verified

  • founder names from the seed (Mohit Bagur and Aditya N G were not confirmed on the homepage or CLI README read; builder is given as the CopperPilot brand instead)
  • hosted product terms page (not read; license wording covers the CLI client and the commercial nature of the hosted agent)
  • detailed plan limits beyond the headline prices quoted
  • Independent user voice (the only testimonial found is vendor-published on the homepage, undated)
